March Update 2020

Dear Graduate Brothers,

We're due for another Pi Iota update!  Before we get into details remember to mark your calendars for this year's Pig Dinner happening on Saturday April 25th 2020. Spouses and significant others are welcome and are encouraged to attend. This year will be an important Pig Dinner as we review big decisions regarding our 120-year-old chapter house at the FA Morse meeting. Formal invitations to follow in the near future.

On Sunday February 2nd the chapter held their annual Pledge-Parent Dinner. Our undergraduates entertained the parents of perspective new members with tours of the house and a formal meal prepared by the chef. There were over 60 in attendance including our current undergraduate Brothers. We would like to extend a special thanks to Brothers Ray Dunn '78, Henry Fitzgerald '75, and Wally Towner '83 for sharing with the group what their Pi Iota Fraternity experience has meant for them.

This past weekend Pi Iota hosted the 2nd Annual Northeast Fiji Summit in the Brother George Oliver '82 and Karen Oliver '82 Active Learning Classroom located in the Brother Bob Foisie '56 Innovation Building on campus. Nearly 40 undergraduate and graduate brothers from Fiji Chapters at WPI, UMAINE, UCONN, QUINNIPIAC, URI, and NORTHEASTERN attended the day-long event to discuss our Fraternity ritual and values as well as to share strategies with one another to better our Chapters. Due to the success of the Northeast Summit for a second year in a row, Pi Iota has offered to spearhead sessions at the upcoming Ekklesia in Phoenix and at future Fiji Leadership Academies on the facilitation of regional Fiji summits, so Chapters around the country to take advantage of the benefits.

Our own undergraduate Brothers Lucio Nicoletti '20 and Ben Bushe '21 continue to train rigorously for the admirable undertaking of running the 2020 Boston Marathon this coming April. Lucio and Ben were fortunate enough to receive charity running bibs through the 26.2 Foundation, founded by our Section Chief and Affiliated Graduate Brother Tim Kilduff (Kent State '68, WPI '18), to run for Team Inspire. Lucio and Ben are responsible for raising charitable support for Team Inspire with the goal of $8,500 each. The proceeds of the support they generate will go directly toward the foundation to promote educational initiatives by raising health and wellness awareness through the sport of marathoning. Please consider supporting Lucio and Ben at their respective charity links below as our undergraduates and several of us have already. Your support will help to boost their charitable efforts for which their hard work and training is going toward. Pi Iota and the values that Phi Gamma Delta stands for will be well represented this Marathon!

Lucio-

Ben-

That's all for now. Watch out for future communications and we're looking forward to seeing many of you at Pig Dinner on April 25th!

Fraternally,

Dave Willens
